The MANA committee is now beginning to plan our concerts for next year, and we hope it may be possible to involve our President and some of our Patrons in these. We would also like to be able to feature jazz and folk music in addition to our classical concerts, as we are conscious of the fact that, for various reasons, these two important areas of music have been neglected by MANA over the years.
A SPANISH CONNECTION
We received an e-mail from one Alba Sanfeliu recently; “ ... I have been working at the School for a Culture of Peace of Barcelona’s Autonomous University for the last four years, where I direct the program of Arts and Peace. In 2004 I wrote you because I asked information about MANA activities, as I was doing a little research on Music, arms and disarmament. Finally, this document is available on our web-site and I thought that maybe you would like to take a look. There’s some information on MANA. The document is only available in Catalan or Spanish.'
The Barcelona Escola de Cultura de Pau web-site is www.escolapau.org and once there it's click you on Programes, then Musica, arts i pau in the drop-down menu and then Musica, armament i desarmament. The section on MANA seems to be a direct translation of the brochure
material we sent in response to Alba’s original query.
In the meantime we wonder if other countries have Universities whose curriculum is in pursuance of the Culture of Peace.
